“How weird is that?” Silky said the next morning. Kira had just finished telling her sister about her date with Danny, how well everything had gone and the incredible kiss he had left her with. “Just yesterday you were talking about never finding someone to spend your life with, and the perfect guy walks right through our door.”

“I don’t know if I’d say perfect,” Kira replied.

Silky paused in her rolling of dough and looked at her sister with confusion. “What do you mean.”

“I mean, I can’t go into this without at least a little skepticism.” Kira opened the oven door and slid a tray of bread inside. “I just can’t help waiting for the other shoe to drop. Like, what kind of skeletons is this guy hiding in his closet? Does he have a wife? Does he have an ex-wife? Does he have a dead wife that he killed, chopped into little pieces, individually bag up all the body parts and bury them in different locations around the state?”

Silky shook her head slowly. The expression on her face was one of shock. “What happened in your life that made you like this?”

Kira could only shrug.

“Look,” her sister began, “you have to lighten up. Just enjoy yourself. He seems like a nice guy. You need to let things play out naturally and have a little fun in the meantime.”

“I’ll do my best,” Kira replied, ready for a change in subject. “So, what do you think about this deal he’s offering?”

Silky stopped rolling again and let out a sigh. “I think it’s worth a look. We should have him draw up a proposal and look over the specifics of the deal. Maybe have a lawyer check it out. If everything is on the up and up, I say we go for it.”

Kira smiled. “Okay. I’m with you. I’ll shoot Danny a text and let him know.”
